Backend Engineer (Node.js & TypeScript)

A Melbourne-based digital products business is seeking a Backend Engineer to develop the services that power its customer and internal platforms. You will design APIs, integrate third-party systems, improve service reliability and contribute to a pragmatic engineering culture focused on measurable outcomes. The environment uses Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, AWS and event-driven patterns. You will collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers and platform specialists across design, delivery, monitoring and incident improvement. Candidates should have 4+ years of backend or full-stack development experience, strong Node.js and TypeScript skills, and confidence with relational data modelling, API design and automated testing. Experience with AWS, queues or event streaming is highly desirable. The role offers $140,000 – $170,000 + super, hybrid working in Melbourne, and a clear path into senior technical ownership.
