Senior Software Developer (AWS)

A fast-growing fintech company is looking for a Senior Software Developer with strong AWS expertise to join their core product engineering team in Sydney. You will design, develop and optimise microservices-based applications that process high volumes of financial transactions. The stack centres on AWS serverless and container services including Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, ECS/Fargate, SQS and EventBridge. You will also own CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or CodePipeline and Infrastructure as Code with Terraform. Key responsibilities include writing clean, well-tested production code, participating in architecture discussions, conducting code reviews, mentoring mid-level developers, and collaborating closely with product, design and security teams. You will be expected to champion best practices around observability, resilience and cost optimisation. We are looking for someone with 5+ years of professional software development experience, at least 3 years building production systems on AWS, and strong proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript or Python. Experience with event-driven architectures, distributed systems and financial services domain knowledge will be highly regarded. AWS Certified Developer – Associate or Solutions Architect – Associate is preferred. This is a hybrid role (2–3 days in the office) offering a competitive package in the range of $160,000 – $190,000 + super + equity, depending on experience.
